Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
This policy explains what the Fajr Labs website, fajrlabs.com (the "Site"), does with your information. Fajr Labs ("we", "us") makes the Masjid Map, the prayer times pages and the other tools on the Site.
The short version
- There is no account to create and no advertising. We do not sell your information.
- Your location is used to show masajid and prayer times near you. Your exact location is only used if you choose to share it.
- We measure how the Site is used so we can improve it.
- We only receive your email address or a message when you choose to send one.
Your location
Approximate location. When you open the "masjid near me" or prayer times pages, the Site estimates the area you are in from your internet (IP) address, so it can show nearby masajid and local prayer times without asking you anything. This estimate is usually accurate to the city, not the street. It is worked out when the page loads and we do not save it.
Exact location. If you tap a "locate me" or "share your location" button and allow it in your browser, the Site uses your exact position to sort masajid by distance and show you on the map. On the near-me and prayer times pages it is saved in your browser for up to a week so you are not asked again. You can withdraw the permission in your browser settings at any time.
To show masajid, the Site asks our database for the masajid inside the area of the map you are looking at, or the area around you. We do not keep a record of your location or build a history of where you have been.
Searching
What you type in the map's search box is sent to our database to find matching masajid. From three characters it is also sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to find matching cities and zip codes. Your location is not sent with it.
How the Site is used
We use two analytics services, PostHog and Google Analytics, to understand how the Site is used: which pages are viewed, which buttons and links are used (for example a search, or a tap on Directions), and general information about your device and browser. They save an identifier in your browser so that visits from the same browser can be told apart. We use this to see what is working and what is broken, not to advertise to you.
If you give your email address in the map's feedback form, it is also attached to that browser's PostHog record, so we can connect your message to the problem you ran into.
What you send us
- Iqamah times and corrections. When you add or update a masjid's times, we receive the masjid, the times you entered, any notes, and your email address if you give one. We store this in our database to review and correct the map, and we receive it by email.
- Messages. When you use "Contact us" or the map's feedback form, we receive your message by email, along with your email address if you give one, the page you sent it from, and your browser's type and version.
Your email address is optional and is used only to reply to you. To limit spam, these forms check how many messages have recently come from the same internet address. We keep submissions for as long as they are useful for keeping the map accurate. To have yours deleted, email us.
What is saved in your browser
The Site saves a few settings in your browser so it behaves the same way on your next visit: where you left the map, whether iqamah times are highlighted, light or dark mode, a location you chose or shared, and your score in the Quran challenge. These stay in your browser and you can remove them by clearing the Site's data in your browser settings.
Services we use
We use a small number of service providers to run the Site. Each one necessarily receives your internet address when your browser connects to it.
- Vercel hosts the Site, Supabase hosts our database, Resend delivers the emails we receive from the forms, and PostHog and Google Analytics provide analytics. Our database and our PostHog data are stored in the United States.
- Map images come from OpenFreeMap, and fonts from Google Fonts.
- The fasting times page sends the location you chose to the AlAdhan prayer times service to calculate its times, and the Quran challenge loads verses and recitation from the Al Quran Cloud service.
Like any website, our hosting and database providers keep routine request logs for a limited time for security and to keep the service running. If you tap for directions or open a masjid's website, you leave the Site and that service's own privacy policy applies.
Prayer times widget on other websites
A masjid can embed our prayer times widget on its own website. The widget is loaded from the Site, so it is covered by this policy in the same way as any other page: our hosting provider receives the request, and the same analytics count that the widget was shown. The widget does not ask for your location.
Our apps
The iPhone apps have their own policies: Masjid Map for iPhone and Nur for iPhone.
Children
The Site is suitable for everyone and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If the Site starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
Contact us
Questions, or a request to see or delete what you sent us: email sami@fajrlabs.com, or use "Contact us" on any page.
